We are currently conducting a search for a Sales Logistics Specialist for our client in the logistics/freight brokerage industry.

 

This is a great direct hire opportunity for candidates interested in starting their sales career!

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Seek new business opportunities by prospecting new carriers and strengthening relationships with current ones through negotiating rates and closing deals in an open transactional selling environment.
  • Carrier Collaboration. Evaluates carrier resources, to align their operational capabilities, in a way that ensures the freight needs of the customer.
  • Rate review. Reviews data from scheduled or as needed reporting, to understand freight characteristics, economics, and profitability, applying it to future market conditions.
  • Internal Teamwork. Interacts with others internally, in a way that shares relevant information in a timely way, that allows the team to grow together.
  • Interpersonal Capability. Expresses a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, positive attitude that encourages customer and employee confidence and reflects our core values.
  • Sales Planning. Develops personal, recurring 12-month sales plan, reflecting areas that can include sales, revenue, load count, and gross profit, which are reviewed quarterly for progress and results.
  • Rate Management. Manages and negotiates rates, based on current market conditions, to optimize the freight movement for the customer.
  • Freight Coordination. Selects the carriers, meeting the freight requirements, then manages the freight from shipper to consignee.
  • Carrier Qualification. Reviews carrier operational soundness, to determine eligibility under company standards, which ultimately align with the service levels required by our customers.
  • Driver Communication. Interacts with drivers to know their availability and location, connecting that information back to the customer’s needs and process.

Qualifications

  • Competitive demeanor. Examples of this can be demonstrated in your personal drive to excel in the work environment.
  • Pace and prioritization. This is the awareness of speed when needed, with the decision making necessary to work the right things first.
  • 1-2 years professional work experience. These are the work types that our customers connect with interpersonally.
  • College exposure, or bachelor’s degree. This tells us that you have the dedication and scrappiness needed for the job.
  • Technology. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Schedule: This is a full-time, in-office role in the Janesville area.  No travel. General day shift office hours

 

Pay:  This is a base + commission role.  Total annual comp for first year Sales Specialists is $50 - $65k.  

 

Annual compensation can rapidly increase over time based on performance and client growth
