Controls Technician

Job Summary
The Controls Technician is responsible for maintaining and supporting company equipment and facilities at an advanced level to ensure reliable production operations. This role performs at a level above Industrial Maintenance Technician 1 and 2, with strong expertise in troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of complex systems.
This position requires adherence to all company policies and procedures, including quality, environmental, and occupational health & safety standards. The Controls Technician will also communicate directly with employees, customers, and vendors as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply basic electrical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair equipment
- Use hand and power tools proficiently
- Diagnose and resolve equipment issues using strong troubleshooting skills
- Document all work using the maintenance ticket system, including parts and cost details
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on production and facility equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization across work areas and departments
- Communicate with OEMs and parts suppliers to support repairs
- Ensure safe work practices when working with 3-phase power (277–480V), 110V, and low-voltage systems
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot control components such as:
- Photo eyes, sensors, relays, timers, solenoids
- Motor starters, limit switches, proximity sensors
- Servo drives, frequency inverters, encoders, HMI systems
- Perform advanced machinery repairs typically handled by OEM technicians
- Troubleshoot relay logic and electro-fluid power systems
- Support and train less experienced maintenance technicians
- Assist with robotic and CNC troubleshooting and programming
- Schedule OEM-level repairs when required
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste in compliance with regulations

Education & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of related experience and/or training
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Compensation
$35 – $38 per hour
