Financial Analyst & Controller

Plano / North Dallas Area | Full-Time | Exempt

 

A well-established, privately held manufacturing company in the Plano/North Dallas area is seeking a Financial Analyst & Controller to join its leadership team. This is a hands-on, dual-function role for a finance professional who enjoys owning the full accounting cycle while also providing forward-looking financial analysis to support business and operational decision-making.

 

The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or job-shop environment, is comfortable working closely with ownership, and can balance day-to-day accounting responsibilities with strategic financial insight.

 


Position Overview

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and understanding English
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field
  • 4–7 years of progressive accounting and/or financial analysis experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle accounting
  • Experience preparing financial statements and supporting external audits
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and dependable attendance
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, CMA, or MBA
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or contract manufacturing environment strongly preferred

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, or comparable ERP platforms
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, financial modeling, data analysis)
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, cost accounting, and manufacturing finance
  • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial leaders
  • High attention to detail with strong commitment to data accuracy and deadlines
  • Organized, self-directed, and capable of managing multiple priorities
  • Professional communication and collaborative leadership style

Core Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Oversee general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow, and banking relationships
  • Prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules, depreciation, and capital expenditure reporting
  • Develop and enforce internal accounting controls and financial policies

Financial Analysis & Strategic Support

  • Develop operating budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
  • Prepare management reports and ad hoc financial analyses
  • Analyze manufacturing costs (labor, materials, overhead) and identify cost improvement opportunities
  • Monitor gross margins by product line and customer segment
  • Support pricing decisions, capital investments, and contract profitability analysis
  • Evaluate vendor contracts, equipment purchases, and lease-versus-buy scenarios
  • Present financial trends and recommendations to ownership and leadership
