Logistics Assistant

Salary: • $45,000–$50,000

Express Employment Professionals is hiring a Logistics Assistant on behalf of our client, a respected, family-owned logistics company with a long-standing reputation for delivering reliable marine, freight, and offshore services.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organization in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where you’ll play an important role in supporting freight operations, coordinating shipments, and ensuring accurate invoicing and documentation.

 

What you’ll be doing:

·     Process departmental payables and client invoices accurately and efficiently

·     Coordinate import and export shipments for assigned clients

·     Obtain and negotiate freight rates with carriers and agents as needed

·     Communicate with carriers, agents, and clients to ensure smooth shipment coordination

·     Update internal systems and departmental tracking sheets with shipment and billing information

·     Assist with business development activities and client support initiatives

·         Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with internal procedures

·         Follow ISO and health and safety procedures and requirements

·         Provide after-hours on-call support as required

 

What we’re looking for:

·         Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation is preferred

·         Strong organizational and planning skills with excellent attention to detail

·         Ability to multitask and shift priorities in a fast-paced environment

·         Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Positive attitude and strong customer service mindset

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·         Knowledge of trade rules and regulations is considered an asset

·         Experience with CargoWise or similar freight management systems is an asset

·         CIFFA Professional Freight Forwarder (PFF) designation is considered an asset
