Accounts Payable Specialist (Part-Time)
Location: Mettawa, IL (Hybrid)


A growing organization is seeking a part-time Accounts Payable Specialist to join its corporate accounting team. This role is responsible for overseeing accounts payable activities for the corporate function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and employee expenses. The ideal candidate will serve as a key partner to internal stakeholders, providing support on payment status, invoice coding, and related inquiries while maintaining strong attention to detail and compliance standards.

 

Schedule & Compensation

  • Part-time: 10–18 hours per week
  • Hybrid Schedule: In-office Tuesdays and Thursdays (Mettawa, IL)
  • Local candidates only
  • Pay: $20–$22 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper coding and approvals
  • Prepare and execute weekly payment runs to support timely disbursements
  • Review, audit, and process corporate expense reports in accordance with company policies
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to allocate and record intercompany or cross-divisional charges
  • Maintain the integrity of the accounts payable system, including running routine interfaces and assisting with period close activities
  • Create and maintain vendor records, including entering and updating banking information
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for accounts payable and expense-related inquiries
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals and supporting documentation
  • Assist with annual 1099 preparation and compliance with IRS guidelines
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to systems, processes, and efficiencies
  • Provide ad hoc support to the broader corporate accounting team as needed

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years years of accounts payable experience, including invoice processing, vendor management, and reconciliations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Solid communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and support non-finance stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of internal controls and SOX compliance requirements

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting multi-entity or multi-division organizations
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
  • Exposure to account reconciliation tools or financial reporting systems
