Overview
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Plant Controller to lead all on-site financial and accounting activities. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting operational decision-making through data-driven insights. The position partners closely with plant leadership to enhance performance, improve cost efficiency, and drive sustainable financial outcomes.
What You’ll Do
Financial Reporting & Planning
- Oversee month-end close processes, including inventory valuation, accruals, and reconciliations
- Lead budgeting and forecasting efforts, including standard cost development and variance analysis
- Build and maintain dashboards to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics
- Provide timely financial insights to support plant leadership and ensure audit readiness
Operational Finance & Transactions
- Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions for accuracy and timeliness
- Manage payroll processing for a small employee population, ensuring compliance and alignment with cost accounting
Business Partnership & Process Improvement
- Collaborate with operations teams to analyze product costing, margins, and manufacturing performance
- Support continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., lean practices, process mapping, on-site observations)
- Identify opportunities to enhance financial systems, reporting, and workflows through ERP tools
Controls & Compliance
- Maintain adherence to internal financial policies and control standards
- Oversee inventory controls, including cycle counts and physical inventories
- Ensure capital expenditures are properly evaluated and aligned with financial expectations
- Conduct ad hoc analyses to support planning and strategic decisions
What You Bring
- Strong analytical skills with experience in forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling
- Solid understanding of manufacturing finance and cost accounting principles
- Familiarity with internal controls and compliance requirements
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems (ERP experience preferred)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing or operations finance
- Demonstrated ability to connect operational metrics with financial performance
- Experience with ERP systems (such as SAP) is a plus
