Automotive Diagnostic Technician – $30/hr to Start (DOE)

Full-Time | M–F, 8AM–5PM | Lewiston, ID

We are hiring for a general, honest, friendly auto shop known for quality work and long-term customer relationships. They handle everything from oil changes to full transmission repairs and we’re looking for a seasoned diagnostic expert who can take on electrical and drivability challenges.

What You’ll Get

• $30/hr to start (higher DOE for exceptional diagnostic depth)

• Full-time, steady schedule - Monday–Friday, 8–5 with a 1‑hour lunch

Must-Haves (Non‑Negotiable)

• Fluent in computer diagnostics (scan tools, live data, waveforms, CAN bus, modules)

• 8-10+ years professional automotive experience

• Valid driver’s license

What You’ll Do

• Perform advanced computer and electrical diagnostics on late‑model gas and diesel vehicles, including CAN bus and module communication systems.

• Diagnose complex runability and drivability issues using scan tools, live data, waveforms, and root‑cause analysis.

• Complete programming, reprogramming, coding, resets, and calibrations using OEM‑level and aftermarket diagnostic platforms.

• Conduct full‑system mechanical diagnostics across engine, transmission, fuel, cooling, suspension, steering, braking, and HVAC systems.

• Execute precise mechanical and electrical repairs based on diagnostic findings.

• Document results clearly and collaborate with service staff to support accurate estimates and repair planning.

What You Bring

• Proven expertise in computer diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, and modern vehicle systems

• Ability to diagnose drivability issues without guesswork

• Hands‑on experience with module programming and advanced diagnostic tooling

• Broad mechanical background across all major systems

• Valid driver’s license + clean driving record

• Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently
