Facilities Technician, Operations & Facilities

Position Summary

The Facilities Technician performs a wide range of maintenance and repair activities to support facility operations. This role ensures that infrastructure, equipment, and systems are maintained in safe and efficient working condition. The technician also supports water system operations and assists with general facilities and operations tasks as directed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks including, but not limited to:
  • Industrial electrical repairs
  • Carpentry
  • Sheet metal and steel fabrication
  • Painting and masonry work
  • General utility maintenance
  • Assist with operation and maintenance of water wells in accordance with applicable regulations
  • Read and record water meter data
  • Maintain sewer grinder pumping stations
  • Inspect facilities and report damage or maintenance needs in a timely manner
  • Provide support to operations personnel as directed by the Operations & Facilities Superintendent

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in industrial maintenance, a skilled trade, or related field
  • Equivalent training through military service or vocational/technical education may be considered
  • Clear driving record, background check and drug screen

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • General maintenance knowledge across multiple trades
  • Ability to work effectively with team members and industry personnel
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks independently

Work Requirements & Conditions:

  • Ability to respond to emergency call-outs and work outside normal business hours (24/7 availability as needed)
  • Ability to work at unprotected heights
  • Ability to work in environments with dust, fumes, and gases
  • Ability to safely operate or work around automotive, rail, and heavy equipment
  • Ability to work in varying weather and environmental conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry moderate loads
  • Strong work ethic and reliable attendance required
  • Must be insurable under employer’s vehicle insurance policy
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
