Job Title: Optometric Technician (Optometric Assistant)

Location: Wichita Falls, TX

Office Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Starting Pay: $14.00 per hour

Position Summary

A local optometrist office is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. Optometric Technicians (also known as paraoptometric assistants or “techs”) perform essential clinical and administrative support functions that enable the Optometrist to focus on providing exceptional patient care. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with patients in a professional, upscale medical environment and thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Obtain and accurately document patient medical histories
• Perform routine pre-testing and diagnostic procedures
• Explain testing equipment, procedures, and prescribed medications to patients
• Instruct patients on the proper use and care of contact lenses
• Assist with electronic medical record (EMR) documentation
• Sell and educate patients on eyewear, lenses, and other eye care products
• Maintain an organized work environment and adhere to office protocols
• Provide excellent customer service while interacting with patients, optometrists, and opticians
• Manage time efficiently to keep patient flow and doctor schedules running smoothly

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• High attention to detail and precise documentation abilities
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Basic math skills (including algebra with positive and negative numbers)
• Computer proficiency and keyboarding skills; familiarity with EMRs preferred
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work efficiently in a clinical setting
• Professional appearance and demeanor required

Additional Requirements

• Must pass a background check and drug screening
• Ability to work full-time during regular office hours
• Maintain professionalism appropriate for a conservative, upscale medical practice

Compensation & Benefits

Benefits include:

• 40 hours of Personal Time Off (PTO) per year, accrued monthly
• 80 hours of paid vacation after one year of employment
