Job Title: Construction Field Laborer

Location: Wytheville, VA (Field assignments require travel)

Position Summary:
A Construction Field Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks in support of construction projects in industrial, commercial, and infrastructure environments. This position plays a key role in site preparation, material handling, equipment support, and general labor duties while ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently. This role requires frequent travel out of state for assignments lasting up to 11 consecutive days.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general labor tasks on active construction sites, including site preparation, cleanup, and demolition support
  • Load, unload, and move construction materials, tools, and equipment
  • Assist skilled trades personnel as needed (carpentry, concrete work, piping, welding support, etc.)
  • Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down job sites, including temporary structures and safety barriers
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and job site regulations
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment
  • Work in a variety of weather and environmental conditions
  • Maintain consistent communication with supervisors and team members while on assignment

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be willing and able to travel out of state for job assignments
  • Assignments may last up to 11 consecutive days at a time
  • Extended time away from home is required, depending on project needs
  • Transportation, lodging, and per diem may be provided during travel assignments

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (typically up to 50–75 lbs)
  • Standing, walking, bending, climbing, and kneeling for extended periods
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when required
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and construction environments

Qualifications:

  • Prior construction or general labor experience preferred, but not required
  • Willingness to learn and follow directions in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic and reliability are essential
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license preferred

Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily outdoors on active construction sites. The role requires adaptability to changing job site conditions and adherence to strict safety standards at all times.
