The Crew Lead is responsible for overseeing and participating in the installation, repair, and maintenance of residential and commercial fencing projects. This role leads field crews, ensures quality workmanship, maintains job site safety, and communicates effectively with customers and management to complete projects on time and within company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise fencing installation crews on daily job assignments
- Read and interpret project plans, measurements, and layouts
- Ensure all fencing projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and safely
- Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles
- Train and mentor crew members on proper installation techniques and safety procedures
- Coordinate materials, equipment, and labor needs for each project
- Conduct site preparation including measuring, digging, leveling, and setting posts
- Install various types of fencing including wood, vinyl, aluminum, chain link, and specialty fences
- Maintain clean and organized job sites
- Communicate progress, delays, or issues with management and customers
- Perform quality inspections throughout and after project completion
- Enforce company safety standards and ensure OSHA compliance
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving field-related issues
Qualifications
- Previous fencing, construction, or outdoor labor experience required
- Prior leadership or crew management experience preferred
- Ability to read tape measures and construction layouts accurately
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to operate power tools and construction equipment safely
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and perform physically demanding work
