Structural Steel Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for reviewing project documents, completing material and labor take-offs, preparing bid proposals, and helping determine the most efficient fabrication and erection approach for commercial construction projects.

The ideal candidate has strong construction knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple estimates and project stages at once.

Responsibilities

• Prepare bid proposals for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, detailing, installation/erection, and special project conditions
• Perform take-offs for materials, shop labor, field labor, and equipment requirements
• Review and evaluate drawings, specifications, contracts, general conditions, and special provisions
• Determine quantities and types of members required to complete project scope
• Identify complex fabrication and erection scenarios and account for them in estimates
• Determine shop operations and estimated time required to complete project scope efficiently
• Develop practical and efficient erection plans, including labor and equipment needs
• Note bid document items that require clarification, allowances, or exclusions
• Assist with document control and general project administration as needed
• Work independently and as part of a project team across multiple active estimates and projects

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in commercial construction
• Experience estimating structural steel, miscellaneous metals, fabrication, or erection preferred
• Strong understanding of contract documents, drawings, specifications, product data, and contracts
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook
• Experience with construction management and estimating software
• Strong organization, written communication, verbal communication, and presentation skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects at different stages of planning, design, procurement, and construction
• Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work independently
