About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Ground Transportation Specialist to join a fast-paced logistics team within a leading organization in the fresh food and produce industry. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the efficient movement of goods across the country and internationally, while maintaining high service levels and operational accuracy.

Position Overview:
The Ground Transportation Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing inbound and outbound freight (FTL and LTL), ensuring on-time deliveries, maintaining system data integrity, and building strong relationships with carriers, brokers, and internal stakeholders. This individual will also focus on cost control, compliance, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate inbound and outbound transportation (FTL/LTL) including dry, refrigerated, and frozen loads
  • Negotiate rates and manage relationships with carriers, brokers, and 3PL partners
  • Monitor shipments to ensure timely pickups and deliveries
  • Maintain transportation costs within budget while optimizing efficiency
  • Manage driver routes, hours, and ensure DOT compliance (logbooks, documentation)
  • Accurately input and maintain data across ERP, TMS, and related systems
  • Investigate and resolve issues such as shipment rejections, delays, and additional charges
  • Evaluate carrier performance and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and customer service teams
  • Secure pickup and delivery appointments and create detailed shipment instructions
  • Support accounts payable by allocating freight costs accurately and timely

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, or related field required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in transportation/logistics (produce, grocery, or food industry preferred)
  • Experience with systems such as SAP, TMS, Produce Pro, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or Power BI preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
