Our client in Mt Vernon, IA is looking for an Entry-Level MIG Welder / Shop Helper!

Position Summary: A well-established metal fabrication company in Mt Vernon is seeking a dependable and motivated Entry-Level MIG Welder / Shop Helper. This role involves both welding and general shop work, making it a great opportunity for someone with basic welding experience or training who’s also willing to jump in wherever needed. If you’re reliable, hands-on, and eager to grow your skills—this could be the perfect fit!

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform basic MIG welding on stainless steel components (repetitive welds; entry-level friendly)
• Assist with general shop duties, including machine operation, cleanup, and material handling
• Read and follow blueprints or simple work instructions
• Measure and cut materials to match specifications
• Inspect completed work for quality and accuracy
• Keep work area clean, organized, and safe
• Take on additional general labor tasks as needed

Qualifications:

• Some MIG welding experience or training (school, trade program, or hands-on experience accepted)
• Willingness to perform general labor and support shop operations
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and a team-oriented attitude
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or with a small team

Hours:

• Monday – Friday
• 8am – 4:30pm

Pay:

• $18–20/hour
