Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Director is a key leadership role focused on overseeing and enhancing engineering functions within the Manufacturing Engineering discipline. This position is responsible for driving the execution of complex engineering tasks, managing a team of engineers, and ensuring0 the optimization of processes required to produce and/or test Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) and box assemblies. This role requires an agile leader who can apply deep industry knowledge to advance manufacturing services, drive continuous improvement, and effectively allocate resources.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: General Manager
  • Direct Reports: Manufacturing/Process Engineering team

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management: Lead the site Manufacturing Engineering team, fostering a collaborative environment, setting clear expectations, and mentoring staff for career progression.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Own the framework to drive NPI activities alongside cross-functional teams to launch new products.
  • Process Optimization: Lead cross-functional teams to drive manufacturing process improvements that enhance production efficiency and product quality.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide expert oversight on the production floor, resolving high-impact manufacturing issues and directing the design and setup of manufacturing cells and equipment.
  • Project Management: Manage engineering projects from conception through deployment, ensuring alignment with business strategies, budgets, and timelines.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); analyze data to resolve systemic process and performance issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma techniques to improve processes and reduce waste.
  • Financial Management: Prepare and manage engineering CAPEX and OPEX budgets, forecast needs, and control expenditures.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Proactively engage with customers, vendors, and third parties to address risks, delays, or escalations.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (electronics/manufacturing focus preferred), or equivalent industry/military experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in electronics manufacturing, including 3+ years in engineering leadership roles.
  • Sector Expertise: Aerospace, Defense, and/or Medical manufacturing experience required.
  • Security Requirements: Must be able to clear SECURITY CLEARANCE to work in DEFENSE/AEROSPACE industries.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep knowledge of EMS manufacturing processes and working knowledge of PLM and MES systems.
  • Compliance Standards: Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO13485, AS9100, ITAR, CGP, IPC, and J-STD.
  • Skills: Strong financial acumen, stakeholder management, and advanced SME expertise in Manufacturing Engineering.
