Role Overview
This is a senior, hands‑on finance leadership role with a privately owned manufacturing company serving customers across North America and internationally. The Senior Controller will lead core accounting and financial reporting functions while partnering closely with operations and the executive team. This is a full‑time, onsite role based in the Tri‑Cities, suited to someone who enjoys being close to the business and influencing decisions through data.
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive experience in a Controller or senior accounting role
- Direct experience in a manufacturing or production‑based environment
- Strong background in month‑end/year‑end close, financial statements, and cost accounting
- Hands‑on experience with inventory, WIP, and standard costing
- Advanced Excel skills (including complex formulas; macro experience strongly preferred)
- Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing setting
- Solid understanding of Canadian accounting standards and internal controls
- Comfortable operating independently in a lean organization
- Ability to work onsite and collaborate daily with operations and leadership
Nice‑to‑Haves
- CPA designation (Canada)
- Experience with U.S. sales tax, cross‑border transactions, or import/export duties
- Exposure to ERP optimization or system implementations
- Prior experience supporting pricing, margin analysis, and operational KPIs
Responsibilities
- Lead month‑end and year‑end close, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements
- Prepare management reporting on sales performance, margins, productivity, and inventory
- Maintain and refine inventory and costing methodologies
- Develop annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long‑range financial plans
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and monitor working capital performance
- Provide financial and operational reporting support to Sales, Production, and Purchasing
- Support pricing decisions, margin analysis, and inventory management initiatives
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and financial reporting requirements
- Maintain internal controls, governance practices, and capital asset records
- Oversee administration of the company’s ERP system in partnership with external support
- Identify process improvement opportunities across finance and operations
- Provide financial insight to support strategic planning and executive decision‑making
