Job Title: Slitter Operator

Position Summary

The Slitter Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining slitting equipment used to cut large rolls of paper into smaller, specified widths to support downstream production processes. This role plays a critical part in ensuring material accuracy, quality, and safety within a manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate slitting machinery according to production specifications
  • Load, thread, and align large paper rolls onto the machine
  • Adjust blades, spacing, tension, and guides to achieve required widths and tolerances
  • Monitor machine operation and material flow to ensure consistent quality
  • Inspect finished rolls for defects such as uneven cuts, tears, or wrinkles
  • Measure and verify cut widths to ensure accuracy
  • Safely remove finished rolls and prepare materials for the next stage of production
  • Complete basic machine maintenance, cleaning, and housekeeping tasks
  • Accurately document production counts, scrap, and quality issues
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and proper use of PPE
  • Communicate issues or material concerns to supervisors in a timely manner

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous machine operator experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
  • Experience with paper, printing, converting, packaging, or roll-fed materials is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to make basic machine adjustments
  • Attention to detail and ability to work within specified measurements and tolerances
  • Ability to read work orders and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and consistent attendance

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull materials with or without assistance
  • Comfortable working in an industrial environment with moving machinery and noise

  • Manufacturing/production facility
  • Exposure to paper dust, mechanical equipment, and sharp blades
  • Team-oriented setting with structured production schedules
