Field Service Technician – Bottling Lines (Maintenance Mechanic)

 

Job Summary

American Canyon company seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic for their Field Technician position. The Field Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and optimizing bottling line equipment at customer winery locations. This role supports customers when equipment issues arise and ensures bottling operations are restored quickly and safely. The ideal candidate has hands-on mechanical and electrical experience, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work independently in a field-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair bottling line equipment, including fillers, labelers, conveyors, cappers, and related systems
  • Perform on-site service calls at wineries to resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control-related issues
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and equipment inspections to minimize downtime
  • Install, commission, and test bottling line equipment and upgrades as required
  • Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding repair status, root causes, and recommended solutions
  • Document service activities, parts usage, and corrective actions in service reports
  • Maintain compliance with safety procedures, food and beverage industry standards, and customer site requirements
  • Travel to customer sites as scheduled or on short notice to support urgent service needs
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex technical issues and improve product reliability

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years of field service, maintenance, or equipment repair experience (industrial, packaging, or bottling equipment preferred)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; experience with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems is a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures efficiently and independently
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
  • Comfortable working in winery and production environments
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on or near moving machinery

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with bottling or packaging lines in food, beverage, or wine production
  • Familiarity with PLCs, sensors, motors, and VFDs
  • Technical certification, trade school training, or associate degree in a related field
  • Strong customer service and communication skills

Work Environment & Travel

  • Field-based position requiring travel to customer winery locations
  • May involve varied schedules, including early mornings, occasional weekends, or after-hours emergency service
  • Work performed in production environments with exposure to machinery, noise, and moving equipment
