Job: Framer (a.k.a. Professional Skeleton Builder)

We’re looking for a framer who can turn a pile of lumber into a house that is square, solid, and unlikely to fall over. You’ll work with a crew framing custom homes and small buildings—floors, walls, roofs, and all the things that make gravity behave.

What You’ll Do

• Read plans and pretend they’re suggestions only until proven otherwise
• Measure, cut, and nail lots of wood together (accurately, please)
• Frame floors, walls, roofs, decks, stairs, and other right-angled marvels
• Set trusses and rafters without angering physics or OSHA
• Install sheathing, bracing, windows, and exterior doors where they actually belong
• Use hand and power tools safely—they are helpful, not pets
• Keep the jobsite clean enough that inspectors don’t sigh heavily
• Show up on time, work like a pro, and not scare homeowners or neighbors

What You Need

• Framing or solid carpentry experience (or strong evidence you know what you’re doing)
• Ability to read a tape measure correctly on the first try
• Comfort working at heights, on ladders, scaffolding, and roofs
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs repeatedly without writing a manifesto about it
• Reliable transportation and a proven habit of showing up
• A driver’s license is a plus; bad driving stories are not

Schedule & Conditions

• Full-time, usually a four-day workweek when schedules cooperate
• Outdoor work, year-round, in Montana weather that builds character
• Residential and small commercial jobsites around the Helena area

Pay & Perks

• $20–$28 per hour, depending on experience

• Room to grow into lead framer or foreman if you’re into responsibility
