Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Mechanic to perform equipment check-ins, maintenance, repairs, and field service support for flooring machine equipment. This role includes diagnosing mechanical issues, preparing equipment for rental, coordinating deliveries and pick-ups, and maintaining accurate service records. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and experienced with IC engines, propane, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

• Perform equipment check-ins and complete minor repairs when units return to the shop

• Conduct full-service maintenance and diagnose simple mechanical problems

• Clean, pressure wash, and prep equipment for repairs and rent-ready status

• Clean, repair, order, and install necessary parts to meet company standards

• Maintain and track company tools; report broken tools for replacement

• Maintain wash bay area, ensuring proper upkeep, preventative maintenance, and a clean, safe environment

Inventory & Documentation

• Track rental equipment inventory and coordinate deliveries, pick-ups, and service calls

• Complete and maintain equipment service records, including damage repairs, preventative maintenance, and warranty processing

• Ensure decals are replaced and equipment is cleaned and detailed before rental

• Keep accurate records of serial numbers, service work, and customer documentation

• Source and manage inventory of parts and supplies

Customer & Field Service

• Communicate professionally with customers, managers, and sales staff to schedule deliveries, pick-ups, and service calls

• Complete all paperwork for deliveries, pick-ups, and service calls

• Deliver and install rented equipment; train authorized operators/customers on safe use

• Implement proper and safe procedures at all times

• Participate in rotating on-call schedule for emergency service (evenings/weekends)

Company Vehicle Maintenance

• Operate company vehicle safely and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

• Keep vehicle clean and perform routine maintenance such as oil changes and safety inspections

• Report any defects or performance issues to supervisor

Requirements

Education & Experience

• 1–3 years of mechanic experience with IC engines, propane, electrical, and hydraulic systems

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or equivalent training preferred

• Must provide own mechanic tools

• Prior floor care equipment experience strongly preferred

Skills & Abilities

• Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work assignments

• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities

• Strong safety awareness and understanding of equipment design and safety requirements

• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
