Express Employment of West Seneca has partnered with a great company in the Lancaster area to fill an immediate need for a full-time Custodian.

 

Summary of Function:

 

A custodian maintains the cleanliness, safety, and operational order of buildings, offices, and facility grounds.   You will be responsible for a variety of cleaning and minor maintenance tasks to ensure a welcoming and professional environment for all staff and visitors.

Key duties include cleaning floors, sanitizing restrooms, managing trash, and performing minor maintenance. This position requires physical stamina and proficiency with cleaning equipment.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Cleaning & Sanitizing: Sweep, mop, and polish floors; clean and disinfect restrooms, classrooms, or offices.
• Waste Management: Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins, disposing of waste in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Maintenance: Perform minor repairs (e.g., repairing fixtures, changing light bulbs) and maintaining custodial equipment.
• Supplies Inventory: Monitor and restock cleaning supplies and restroom products.
• Security & Safety: Secure building entrances/windows, lock doors, and report safety hazards or maintenance needs to management.
• Special Projects: Perform heavy cleaning tasks such as shampooing carpets, washing windows, or stripping/waxing floors. 

Requirements & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a custodian, janitor, or in a similar role.
• Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment (e.g., floor buffers, vacuums).
• Knowledge of safe handling of cleaning chemicals and SDS (Safety Data Sheets).
• Physical stamina to stand/walk for long periods and lift upto 50 lbs.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
