Salary: $18.00 per hour

Express seeks to hire a reliable Material Inspector / Classer to support inspection, classification, and handling of materials. This role involves hands-on work in an outdoor/yard environment and requires attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to follow specifications and procedures.

Compensation: $18.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday - 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect inbound logs for compliance with company standards
• Classify and inspect round stock per ANSI, ASTM, and company specifications
• Verify material quality, including purchased and processed products
• Document and report inspection results and classifications
• Assist with finished product inspections as needed
• Perform general clean-up and support additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 1–2 years of related experience preferred
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately
• Clean background check
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to read and follow safety and operating instructions
• Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of forest products, species, and material defects (preferred)
• Basic maintenance/mechanical knowledge
• Team-oriented with willingness to assist where needed
• Ability to stand, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
• Repetitive use of hands and fingers
• Ability to maintain visual focus in a fast-paced environment
