About the Client:

Express Employment is partnering with a large, multi location retailer in Northern California.

About the Position:

The Staff Accountant will serve an integral role in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. This role’s primary focus will be general accounting and will involve journal entries related to various areas of corporate administration and operations, researching and resolving accounting issues, and implementing control and process improvements.  The accountant will also assist with additional general ledger processes and journal entries including accruals and allocation. This is a temp to perm position.

Job Description/ Responsibilities:

•    Assist with financial reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts and accountability for various general ledger journal entries and accruals
•    Assist with accounting for corporate related areas such as general liability insurance, health insurance, workers comp, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, etc.
•    Assist with accounting for operational related areas such as supplies, maintenance, gift cards, loyalty programs, etc.
•    Assist with fixed asset and lease accounting
•    Involved in month end close process and financial review of results to ensure financial statements are appropriately stated in accordance with GAAP
•    Assist with preparation of various lead schedules for interim and year-end audit
•    Assist with annual external audits.
•    Perform ad hoc projects as requested.

Qualifications:

•    Degree in accounting or related field and 2-3 years' accounting experience either in industry or an accounting firm
•    Previous retail, consumer packaged goods, or manufacturing experience preferred
•    Excellent communication and organizational skills
•    Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
•    Strong analytical background
•    Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
•    Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet tight month-end close deadlines
•    Experience with financial and accounting reporting systems; experience with FMS, ECRS, and/or Salient a plus

Shift:

Monday-Friday full time temp to perm

Compensation:

$65k-$80k depending on experience
