Role Summary

The IT Product Owner (PO) is responsible for maximizing the value delivered by one or more Agile delivery teams by owning and actively managing the product backlog. The PO serves as the primary decision‑maker for what the team builds and in what order, ensuring that delivery aligns with business outcomes, user needs, and enterprise technology standards.

This role operates at the intersection of business, technology, and delivery, translating strategy and stakeholder needs into clear, actionable backlog items that Agile teams can execute efficiently. The IT Product Owner works closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, and Engineering teams to ensure work is well‑defined, prioritized, and ready for delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Product Ownership & Backlog Management

· Own and continuously refine the product backlog, ensuring it reflects business priorities, user value, and technical considerations

Translate product goals, initiatives, and stakeholder needs into epics, features, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria

· Order backlog items to maximize value delivery, balancing new capabilities, technical debt, risk, and operational needs

· Ensure backlog items are ready for development through regular refinement and collaboration with the delivery team

Agile Team Engagement

· Act as the voice of the customer and business for the Agile team during sprint planning, reviews, and day‑to‑day execution

· Provide timely clarification and decisions to keep the team unblocked and focused

· Participate actively in all Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives

· Accept or reject completed work based on agreed acceptance criteria and product goals

Stakeholder Collaboration

· Partner with Product Managers to understand product strategy, roadmap priorities, and desired outcomes

· Collaborate with Business Analysts to ensure problem statements, requirements, and workflows are well understood

· Engage business stakeholders to gather feedback, manage expectations, and communicate progress

Present delivered functionality during sprint reviews and stakeholder demos

Technical & Enterprise Alignment

· Work closely with Architects and Engineering to ensure backlog items align with enterprise architecture, security, and platform standards

· Represent non‑functional requirements (performance, scalability, reliability, security) within backlog items

· Support modernization and continuous improvement efforts by appropriately prioritizing technical enablers and remediation work

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)

3+ years of experience in an Agile environment as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role

· Hands‑on experience working with Agile/Scrum delivery team

Skills & Competencies

· Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum practices, including backlog management and incremental delivery

· Ability to break down complex problems into clear, actionable work items

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Strong prioritization and decision‑making abilities

· Comfort working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders

· Ability to operate with ambiguity and make trade‑off decisions

Preferred Qualifications

· Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent Agile certification

· Experience supporting enterprise IT platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, ERP, CRM, integration platforms)

· Familiarity with DevOps practices, cloud platforms, or API‑driven architectures

· Experience working in scaled Agile or multi‑team environments
