Job Summary
Performs a variety of manual labor tasks to support the maintenance, repair, and construction of public infrastructure and facilities such as streets, drainage systems, parks, and public buildings. Work is typically performed outdoors under varying weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance and repair of roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
• Perform manual labor such as digging, lifting, loading/unloading materials, and cleaning work sites
• Operate basic hand and power tools (shovels, rakes, drills, etc.)
• Assist in installing and repairing signs, guardrails, and public fixtures
• Maintain parks, grounds, and public spaces (mowing, trimming, debris removal)
• Support waste collection and disposal activities if required
• Direct traffic or set up safety cones and barricades at job sites
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and report mechanical issues
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations

 

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Clear background check and drug screen
• Previous labor or construction experience is a plus, but not always required
• Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting 50+ lbs, standing for long periods)
• Basic knowledge of tools and equipment
• Valid driver’s license (CDL may be required or preferred depending on department)
