Position Summary: The Plasma Cutter Machine Operator is responsible for operating a CNC plate and manual plasma cutting equipment to cut structural steel plates, and components. Verify material to precise dimensions according to shop drawings, cut lists, and follow production schedules. This role supports fabrication efficiency by producing accurate parts, maintaining equipment, and following strict safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate CNC and manual plasma cutting machines to process structural steel plate, gussets, base plates, clips, and other components.

• Read and interpret shop drawings, cut lists, nesting layouts, work orders, and production schedules.

• Load, position, and align raw material on the cutting table using overhead cranes, and approved material-handling equipment.

• Set machine parameters and monitor cut quality, kerf, bevel, hole size, and part accuracy during production.

• Inspect completed parts for dimensional accuracy, cut quality, and compliance with job specifications.

• Verify identify, piece marks, sort, and stage cut parts for fit-up, or shipment by listed job assignments.

• Perform routine machine checks, cleaning, consumable changes, and basic preventive maintenance.

• Maintain accurate production records and communicate material or machine issues to supervision promptly.

• Work closely with fitters, welders, and other shop personnel to keep fabrication workflow moving efficiently.

• Follow OSHA, company, and shop safety procedures at all times, including lockout, PPE, and safe material handling practices.

• Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of scrap, hazards, and unnecessary downtime.
