CNC Machinist
Location: Guelph, ON
Job Type: Evaluation Hire

Schedule: Monday - Friday - 6:30 am - 4:00 pm

Pay: $32.00- $37.00/ Hr.

About the Role:

Express Employment Guelph is currently recruiting for a CNC machinist for a local Guelph manufacturer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate advanced machines (Gantry/Bridge Mills and Horizontal Boring Mills)
• Verify, edit, and optimize CNC programs, including proving them out on first runs
• Work with large, complex fabricated components, adapting to material variations using analytical problem-solving
• Read and interpret detailed technical drawings (metric and imperial) and hold tight tolerances
• Perform complex machine setups, including using overhead cranes
• Select, prepare, and set cutting tools appropriately
• Conduct first-off inspections to ensure parts meet specifications
• Machine a variety of materials while maintaining quality and efficiency

Qualifications:

• Certified Journeyman Machinist; General Machinist certification considered an asset
• Extensive experience with CNC machining, including custom, one-off fabrication work on large components
• Strong expertise in setup, operation, and programming of CNC Boring Mills (Heidenhain controls preferred)
• Ability to perform complex machine setups and safely operate overhead cranes
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, charts, and tables
• Solid understanding of both imperial and metric measurement systems
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and exceptional attention to detail
