Purchasing Agent

Salary: $23-$26/Hour

We are working with a local manufacturing company seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent (Temporary) to support their supply chain team during a short-term assignment. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with strong international purchasing experience who can step in and make an immediate impact.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (flexible)
Compensation: $23-$26/Hour
Assignment Length: 2–3 months

Position Summary:
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials to support manufacturing operations. This role focuses heavily on working with international vendors, managing long lead times, and ensuring timely delivery of quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Negotiate pricing, quality, and delivery terms with vendors and suppliers
• Place and manage orders with international vendors, ensuring timelines are met
• Monitor and expedite shipments to prevent delays or shortages
• Evaluate vendor performance based on delivery, quality, and reliability
• Coordinate with internal departments including accounting, scheduling, and materials
• Process returns and resolve issues with defective or incorrect materials
• Maintain accurate purchasing records using ERP/MRP systems
• Support receiving processes to ensure accuracy of incoming shipments
• Follow company safety and quality standards at all times

Qualifications:

• Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
• Two year or Four year degree in Accounting or Business-related discipline
• Strong experience with international purchasing (required)
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (Syspro preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and organizational skills

Work Environment & Requirements:

• Combination of office and warehouse environment (non-climate controlled at times)
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs as needed
