The Senior Assembly Lead works closely with the Assembly Supervisor to ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly and production schedules are achieved. This role provides leadership and direction to assembly team members while promoting a “right-the-first-time” approach throughout the manufacturing process.
Key responsibilities include identifying and resolving assembly-related issues, ensuring work is completed according to drawings, procedures, and safety standards, and maintaining a safe, consistent, and organized work environment. This position plays a critical role in supporting efficient operations and overall product quality.

Supervises: Assembly Leads and Assembly Workers

Key Responsibility Areas
Leadership
- Acts in place of the Assembly Supervisor when required, making operational decisions and providing guidance.
- Assigns work and provides direction to assembly leads and workers.
- Ensures compliance with operating procedures, safety standards, and organizational policies.
- Identifies and resolves production issues and workplace conflicts.
- Leads by example, providing positive reinforcement and corrective feedback as necessary.
- Signs off on internal competency assessments when required.
- Ensures all team members comply with safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Maintains clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Oversees performance of the assigned assembly line.
- Participates in interviewing, hiring, coaching, and disciplinary processes with HR support as needed.
- Reviews and verifies labor edits for assembly staff.
Assembly Operations
- Follows diagrams, drawings, and standard operating procedures; assists with development and revision of SOPs as needed.
- Ensures a consistent flow of parts and pre-assembled materials to the assembly floor.
- Coordinates retrieval of painted and prepared parts for assembly.
- Confirms correct components are available from inventory to support production flow.
- Monitors stock levels of materials and consumables.
Planning and Scheduling
- Collaborates with internal departments to plan daily assembly activities.
- Coordinates assembly work based on component availability.
- Establishes timelines for component and assembly completion.
Final Assembly Review
- Inspects final assemblies to ensure all processes are completed.
- Performs or assigns corrective actions when defects or gaps are identified.
- Coordinates quality checks during the assembly process to ensure defect-free output.
Projects and Additional Responsibilities
- Participates in special projects or initiatives as assigned.
- Supports other departments or work areas as required.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanical or construction-related coursework is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with common office software.
Experience
- Previous experience as an Assembly Worker is required.
- Manufacturing or construction experience is preferred.
- Leadership or lead-hand experience is considered an asset.
Training and Certifications
- Fall Protection and Overhead Crane Operator certifications are required.
- Additional certifications may be required, including:
- Confined Space Entry
- Forklift Operation

Working Conditions
- Work is performed in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to dust, temperature fluctuations, and material movement.
- Physical demands include lifting, standing, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and working in confined or elevated positions for extended periods.
- Proper and consistent use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
- CSA-approved safety footwear is required; all other PPE is provided.
