The Electrical Engineering Technologist is a key member of the electrical engineering and design team, supporting the design, integration, and troubleshooting of electrical systems across production and service environments.
This role interfaces with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders including production and service teams. The successful candidate contributes to a collaborative, detail-oriented team environment with a focus on quality, reliability, and a “done-right-the-first-time” approach throughout the design and manufacturing lifecycle.

Key Responsibility Areas
Electrical Support
- Assists with troubleshooting, calibration, installation, and repair of electrical systems in production and service environments.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure electrical installations meet defined quality standards.
- Supports pre-delivery inspection activities by addressing post-test deficiencies.
- Provides mentorship and guidance to manufacturing and service teams on correct assembly of electrical components.
- Demonstrates leadership in accurate and complete electrical testing following system installation.
- Provides timely electrical documentation and procedures as requested.
- Responds to internal support requests through the electrical ticketing system.
- Advises on defective components and works with quality teams as required.
- Performs bench testing of electrical components.
- Participates in daily production update meetings.
System Software & Configuration
- Configures engine and transmission parameters using approved documentation.
- Loads and configures proprietary system software across multiple equipment platforms.
- Configures third-party electronic devices according to specified requirements.
- Assists with full system integration software validation.
- Supports troubleshooting of system fault codes and warning indicators.
- Maintains detailed tracking, documentation, and version control of configurations and changes.
Electrical Drawings, Documentation & Production Support
- Publishes electrical design documentation for production use.
- Applies revision changes to CAD drawings as required.
- Produces component-specific interface drawings for custom applications.
- Identifies appropriate part numbers and incorporates them into documentation updates.
- Creates and revises guides, procedures, manuals, and technical specifications.
- Maintains accurate revision control and document integrity across all engineering files.
Qualifications
Education / Certification
- Engineering Technologist Diploma, Engineering Degree, or equivalent education and experience.
- Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation considered an asset.
Experience
- Experience with or strong interest in heavy-duty industrial equipment and/or manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on experience with assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and components.
- Familiarity with electrical tools and test equipment.
- Related mechanical knowledge and tooling skills considered an asset.
- Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical; familiarity with 3D CAD tools is an asset.
- Experience contributing to structured documentation systems and published technical designs.
- Strong attention to detail.
