Counter Salesperson (HVAC/R Distribution)

Pay: $23–25/hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Position Summary

The Counter Salesperson is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and sales support to contractors and customers in the HVAC/R industry. This role involves assisting walk-in and phone customers, processing orders, providing product recommendations, and ensuring accurate and timely fulfillment of parts and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers at the sales counter and over the phone in a professional and friendly manner
• Accurately process customer orders, quotes, returns, and transactions using internal computer systems
• Provide product knowledge and recommendations based on customer needs
• Promote additional products and upsell where appropriate to maximize customer satisfaction and sales
• Maintain strong relationships with customers by delivering prompt, knowledgeable service
• Pull, stage, and prepare orders for pickup or delivery
• Assist with inventory control, stocking, and maintaining an organized warehouse and counter area
• Support branch operations including shipping/receiving and general housekeeping
• Stay up to date on HVAC/R products, parts, and industry trends

These responsibilities align with typical HVAC counter sales roles, which emphasize customer service, order processing, and product support in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in counter sales, inside sales, or customer service (distribution environment preferred)
• Knowledge of HVAC/R systems, parts, and equipment strongly preferred
• Previous experience working for an HVAC/R service company is a major plus
• Strong computer skills, including order entry systems and basic Microsoft Office use
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move materials (typically up to 50 lbs)
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the day
• Comfortable working in both counter and warehouse environments
