Job Summary:

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records within the company’s warehouse or storage facilities. This role involves handling all paperwork and procedures necessary to ensure that inventory levels are consistently accurate, and discrepancies are promptly addressed. The specialist will play a key role in inventory management, safety, equipment operation, and customer communication.


Hours: 

Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management:
    • Maintain and update accurate inventory records.
    • Perform daily activities to support effective inventory management.
    • Reconcile inventory discrepancies and adjust records as needed.
    • Recommend improvements to inventory management procedures.
  • Cycle Counting:
    • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts.
    • Make necessary system adjustments based on count results.
  • Inventory Reconciliation:
    • Reconcile customer annual inventories.
    • Conduct searches to locate missing products and adjust records for discrepancies.
  • Equipment Operation:
    • Safely operate forklifts or other material handling equipment as required.
  • Safety, Sanitation, and Security:
    • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
    • Assist in maintaining warehouse security.
    • Adhere to OSHA and SDS standards for safe operations.
  • Shortage Detection:
    • Maintain accurate records to facilitate the detection and correction of shortages.
  • Records and Reporting:
    • Maintain all necessary reports and documentation related to inventory counts.
    • Complete and issue records of audits, counts, and adjustments in a timely manner.
  • Customer Communication:
    • Communicate with customers regarding inventory adjustments and variances.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and SDS standards.

Work Environment:

  • The role requires working in a chemical/food grade warehouse environment with occasional exposure to hazardous products and varying temperatures.
  • Physical requirements include lifting, moving, and transporting inventory items, which may involve heavy lifting and/or operating material handling equipment.
