Accounting Supervisor (Direct Hire)

Job Summary The Accounting Supervisor oversees and controls general and cost accounting functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and cash management. This role is responsible for financial statement preparation, budgeting, statistical analysis, and communicating results and business planning matters to the Japanese parent company.
- Leadership & Compliance: Sets a professional example and ensures all department employees follow company policies, safety rules, and quality manuals.
- Financial Reporting: Maintains the system of accounts, keeps books/records of all transactions, and prepares financial and statistical reports.
- Budgeting: Assists in annual budget preparation and provides actual vs. budget data to department managers.
- Cash Management: Monitors and coordinates all activities for accounts payable, payroll, and investment accounts.
- Supervision: Provides training, supervision, and annual performance evaluations for the accounting staff (Staff Accountant and Accounting Administrators).
- Internal Controls: Monitors established internal controls to ensure strict compliance.
- Audit & Consolidation: Coordinates external auditor requirements/schedules and prepares consolidation schedules as required by the Parent Company.
- Departmental Support: Assists personnel with budget activity, proper coding, and document preparation (RINGI).
Qualifications
- Education: Four-year College Degree in Accounting required.
- Experience: * Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in general and manufacturing accounting.
- At least 3 years of previous management or supervisory experience.
- Certifications: CMA or CPA designation is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Computer literate in MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Access).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to speak/write in Japanese is a plus.
- Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment while maintaining high ethical standards.
Physical Requirements
- Mobility: Ability to sit or stand for long periods and maneuver around the office.
- Dexterity: Good finger dexterity and the ability to rotate wrists, arms, and shoulders.
- Typing: Ability to type repetitively using a keyboard for 1 to 2 hours before a break.
- Sensory: Good eyesight, hearing, and speaking voice.
- Lifting: Ability to lift and/or move approximately 10 lbs.
Working Conditions
Work is generally performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. The incumbent may occasionally need to spend short periods on the production floor to communicate with other employees.
