Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to ensure full compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and industry standards. This role is responsible for developing and managing EHS programs, promoting workplace safety, and supporting environmental compliance initiatives.

The EHS Coordinator plays a critical role in reducing workplace incidents, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a safe, healthy, and sustainable work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs and policies
  • Serve as an expert witness in environmental health and safety cases
  • Perform environmental monitoring, analyze data, and prepare detailed technical reports including methodologies, observations, results, and recommendations
  • Conduct internal safety audits, environmental inspections, and compliance reviews; ensure timely corrective actions
  • Lead new hire safety orientation and administer all EHS compliance programs and policies
  • Track and maintain EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and generate reports
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, supervisors, and management
  • Ensure compliance with plant safety rules, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards
  • Perform daily, monthly, and annual workplace safety inspections
  • Co-chair the Joint Health & Safety Committee, promoting employee engagement and participation
  • Respond to EHS concerns, incidents, and non-compliance issues raised by employees or management
  • Review accident and incident investigation reports; recommend corrective and preventive actions
  • Maintain MSDS/SDS documentation across all sites
  • Manage and maintain all EHS documentation, records, and compliance paperwork
  • Ensure compliance with OHSA regulations and applicable environmental laws
  • Serve as a Fire Safety Team Member
  • Follow all Health and Safety regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, or equivalent
  • Minimum 2+ years of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) experience
  • Working knowledge of OH&S Act and Regulations (Ont. Reg. 851 – Industrial Establishments)
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance regulations (EASR, ESDM, NPRI, E2, RPRA)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
