Position Title: Benefits Administrator
Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract
Location: Onsite, Oxford, NC
Contract Duration: Approximately 4 Months
Position Summary
The Benefits Administrator will manage the day-to-day operations of the organization’s group benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, flexible spending plans, and supplemental benefits. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and the ability to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient benefits administration. The administrator will serve as a key liaison between employees, HR, and external benefits vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits Administration
• Administer daily benefits processes including enrollments, terminations, COBRA, qualifying life events, beneficiaries, disability, accident, and death claims.
• Maintain and update employee benefits files, group benefits databases, and payroll records.
• Coordinate the transfer of data to external vendors for services, premiums, and plan administration.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
Compliance & Reporting
• Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, Medicare, OBRA, Social Security, and DOL requirements.
• Maintain accurate administrative procedures for all benefits processes.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of required reporting, filings, and fee submissions.
Employee Support & Communication
• Provide high-quality customer service to employees and external partners.
• Develop and distribute communication materials to enhance employee understanding of benefit offerings.
• Support benefits orientations, open enrollment activities, and the creation of summary plan descriptions.
Required Skills & Abilities
• Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint), and experience with HRIS and benefits databases.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills and thorough understanding of benefits plan designs.
• Ability to interpret and evaluate benefits contract language.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Knowledge of federal and state benefits regulations and compliance requirements.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in benefits administration or employee benefits.
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or CEBS certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
