We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy machinery used in a metal recycling operation. Our operating environment is similar to a highway construction site, and the equipment and repair expectations reflect that. When equipment breaks down, repairs are typically completed on-site.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment on-site
• Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime
• Work on construction-style heavy machinery used in recycling operations
• Ensure equipment remains safe, operational, and compliant
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns during operating hours

Equipment Environment

• Heavy equipment similar to that used in highway construction
• On-site repairs are the standard approach (limited shop repairs)

Schedule

• Days: 5 to 5½ days per week
• Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
• Lunch: 30-minute unpaid lunch

Compensation

• Pay Rate: $24.00 – $34.00 per hour
• Compensation is based on experience and skill level

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic
• Experience with construction or highway-type equipment preferred
• Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills
• Ability to work independently in the field
