Structural Steel Fitter Helper

EVALUATION HIRE

$17 - 18 / hr.

Day Shift: 6 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Thursday; Schedule varies based on production

 

Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is currently hiring for a Structural Steel Fitter Helper for a local client in Livingston Parish. This role involves assisting fitters with layout, fitting, and assembly of structural steel components in a shop environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in using hand tools, power tools, grinders, torches, and measuring equipment. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES for Structural Steel Fitter Helper: 

• Assist structural fitters with layout, positioning, and assembly of steel components
• Help read and interpret basic shop drawings and blueprints
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area
• Operate basic hand tools and power tools under supervision
• Assist with measuring, marking, and material handling
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
• Support general shop operations as needed

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Previous experience in steel fabrication, welding, or industrial construction is a plus, but not required
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately
• Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced fitters
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor in a shop environment
