REPORTS TO: Machine Shop Supervisor
SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for fabricating metal parts by operating
mechanical equipment by performing the following duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Have the ability to do all duties and responsibilities of a Machine Shop Helper.
? Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance
levels of the finished product with assistants from other machinist and/or supervisor.
? Cuts and makes parts to print by using measuring tools, saws, mills and other machinery
with assistants from other machinist and/or supervisor.
? Use proper safety equipment.
? Assist others as needed within the department
? Use assigned work orders to know what parts need to be made.
? Maintains a productivity rate of a minimum of 100% after training period
? Clocked in time into Visual (Work Orders and/or Detailed Indirect Entry) when
comparing to paid work hours is a min of 80%.
? Keep work area clean and organized
? Does all required work within Kegel’s Quality Policy
? Performs other related duties as assigned by management
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
? This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
? High school diploma or general education degree (GED), 2 year of related experience
and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
? Other skills required:
o Read a tape measure
o Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers, micrometers, gage blocks, etc.) to
take accurate measurements
o Run Bridgeport and saws along with needed setup with assistants from other
machinist and/or supervisor.
