Position Overview

A growing tree care operation in the Fort Walton Beach, FL area is seeking an experienced Tree Climber / Lead Crew Member to join our team. This is a hands-on leadership role for a skilled professional who can safely climb, operate specialized equipment, and lead a crew in residential and commercial tree service projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced tree climbing, pruning, and removals using rope & saddle techniques

• Lead and supervise a tree crew, delegating tasks and ensuring job efficiency

• Operate Spider Lift (tracked aerial lift) for precision tree work

• Safely operate and drive a Grapple Truck (CDL required)

• Execute proper rigging techniques for controlled limb and tree removal

• Maintain compliance with ANSI Z133 safety standards and OSHA guidelines

• Conduct job site assessments and ensure safe work zones

• Communicate effectively with crew members and customers when needed

• Assist with equipment maintenance and daily inspections

Qualifications & Requirements

• 10+ years of professional tree climbing experience preferred

• Valid CDL Class B or Class A (REQUIRED)

• Proven experience operating:

  • Grapple trucks

  • Spider lifts / tracked lifts

• Strong knowledge of:

  • Tree rigging, cutting techniques, and safety practices

  • Proper pruning standards (ISA guidelines preferred)

• Ability to lead a crew and work independently

• Physically capable of demanding outdoor labor in various weather conditions

• Must have a strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude

Preferred (But Not Required)

• ISA Certified Arborist or equivalent experience

• Experience with storm cleanup and emergency tree removal

• Equipment troubleshooting and minor mechanical skills

Schedule

• Monday–Friday

• Start Time: 6:30 AM

• Hours vary based on workload and weather conditions
