Food Safety & Quality Specialist
Location: Santa Paula

Pay: $36/hr

About the Role
We are seeking a Food Safety & Quality Specialist to support food safety, quality control, and compliance within a fresh produce packinghouse or distribution environment. This role ensures products meet regulatory requirements and customer expectations while helping maintain a safe, audit-ready operation. You will work closely with operations and leadership to uphold and improve food safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
• Oversee day-to-day food safety and quality compliance across operations
• Ensure products meet company, customer, and regulatory standards
• Conduct daily facility inspections and pre-operational checks
• Review, collect, and maintain accurate food safety and quality documentation
• Perform internal audits and ensure corrective actions are completed on time
• Monitor product quality, including condition, ripeness, and inventory age
• Check storage areas for proper temperature, humidity, and cleanliness
• Collect sanitation and environmental samples (ATP testing) and coordinate lab submissions
• Calibrate thermometers and other quality equipment
• Inspect incoming and outgoing products for size, weight, and quality standards
• Communicate food safety concerns and partner with operations to resolve issues
• Support food safety and quality training as needed
• Ensure compliance with GMPs, SOPs, and sanitation procedures

Qualifications
• At least 1 year of experience in food safety, quality, or a related role (produce or food manufacturing preferred)
• Knowledge of food safety standards and quality control processes
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
• Experience in warehouse or produce operations is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and similar systems
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends or alternate shifts if needed
