SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Picker/Packer accurately picks, packs, wraps, stacks, and moves products to fill customer orders as standard procedure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Pick and pack units to specifications, aligned with respected Standard Operating Procedures.
· Use and operate RF scanners.
· Locate and pick products for orders according to order detail.
· Verify that each order is picked completely before placing on conveyor or other loading area.
· Practice good housekeeping by removing empty boxes from shelves, moving damaged product to designated areas, organizing warehouse racks & sweeping designated areas.
- Pack, palletize & shrink wrap products as required prior to loading on trucks.
- Properly stage and assist loaders to accurately and efficiently combine and load orders.
· Ensure that paperwork is completed timely, thoroughly and accurately.
· May assist with training new associates in basic job functions.
· Must follow directions given by supervisors, leads and key associates.
· Use basic math.
- Maintain safety standards in compliance with company policy and report issues to supervisor.
- Always be aware of surroundings and heavy equipment nearby.
- Other duties assigned including but not limited to: temporary reassignment of role, light dusting/sanitation as needed, etc.
POSITION SPECIFICS:
· This is a full-time position
· Shift start/stop times may vary depending on department and business needs. Initial schedules are not guaranteed to be permanent. Any changes will be communicated with at least two weeks’ notice. Typical shifts are 8 hours but may require overtime as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have any leadership requirements and/or responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3- 6 months’ order picking experience with RF scanner.
- Must be able to read a limited number of two- and three- syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to write and speak simple sentences in English.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Excellent attendance and punctuality are expected
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Candidate must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with ability to: stand for long periods of time; ability to become certified (if operating equipment); constantly move about the warehouse; pulling/pushing a cart containing cartons; bend/stoop/kneel/crouch to handle product; regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds; the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations; and the ability to observe details at close range (within a few feed of the observer). The work environment is often noisy with honking from passing forklifts and experiences hot/cold temperature fluctuations due to outside weather.
