Job Description – QA Inspector I / II

Department: Operations / Quality
Reports To: QA Manager
Location: Vederra Modular Manufacturing Facility
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Compensation: $20.00 – $30.00 per hour
Incentive Compensation: Eligible for discretionary performance-based bonuses

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector to support our modular home manufacturing operations. This role ensures that all building components and finished modules meet company standards, customer specifications, and applicable building codes.

  • QA Inspector I is an entry-level role focused on learning quality fundamentals and inspection processes.

  • QA Inspector II is a fully proficient role, responsible for independently performing inspections and completing documentation within the assigned scope.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-process and final inspections throughout all stages of modular home production

  • Verify compliance with:

    • Company quality standards

    • Customer specifications

    • State of Colorado building codes and regulations

  • Inspect structural components, electrical systems, plumbing, and finishes

  • Identify defects, non-conformities, and deviations; document findings clearly and accurately

  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions

  • Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and checklists

  • Participate in quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Ensure adherence to OSHA and workplace safety standards

  • Assist in training production staff on quality expectations and best practices

  • Identify and verify “ship loose” items to accompany modules

  • Coordinate with production and quality teams to maintain workflow efficiency

  • Stage materials, finalize shipping items, and ensure module completeness

  • Inspect completed work across the production line and provide final sign-off

  • Submit RFIs (Requests for Information) as needed

Level Distinctions

QA Inspector I (Entry Level)

  • Basic knowledge of construction, manufacturing, or skilled trades

  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure

  • Basic math skills (fractions, measurements, tolerances)

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders (preferred but trainable)

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Ability to follow written procedures and inspection checklists

  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

  • Willingness to learn building codes, QA standards, and inspection processes

Experience: Entry-level; prior construction or manufacturing experience preferred but not required


QA Inspector II (Fully Proficient)

  • 2–5+ years of experience in:

    • QA/QC, or

    • Residential construction, remodeling, or modular building, or

    • Manufacturing inspection

  • Working knowledge of:

    • Residential construction practices (framing, electrical, plumbing, finishing)

    • Modular or prefabricated building processes

  • Ability to read and interpret:

    • Blueprints and schematics

    • Specifications and scope documents

  • Familiarity with:

    • HUD Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards

    • IRC/IBC building codes

  • Experience using inspection tools (levels, squares, gauges, etc.)

  • Experience documenting inspections and non-conformances

Experience: Demonstrated ability to perform QA inspections independently in a production or construction environment


Qualifications

  • Construction Superintendent or Project Manager experience (preferred, not required)

  • High level of integrity and accountability

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent lifting of materials up to 50 lbs

  • Standing and walking for extended periods

  • Bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching as needed

  • Ability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment

  • Ability to work in a moderate-noise production environment


Travel Requirements

  • Primarily on-site at the manufacturing facility

  • Occasional local travel for:

    • Vendor meetings

    • Equipment inspections

    • Regulatory or compliance matters

  • Limited travel (less than 10%) for training or company meetings


Working Conditions

This position is primarily based at the Vederra Modular factory and yard, with regular presence required on the production floor. Occasional outdoor work and after-hours response for safety or facility needs may be required.

Overtime opportunities may be available based on production demands. While not mandatory, employees are strongly encouraged to participate when requested. Overtime is assigned at the discretion of the QA Manager based on business needs.
