Line Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Line Technician to install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical or utility lines. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with line work, safety procedures, and equipment operation to ensure reliable service and quick restoration during outages.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect, install, maintain, and repair electrical or utility lines (overhead and underground)
Respond to emergency outages and perform timely line repairs
Climb poles, operate bucket trucks, and work at heights safely
Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized line equipment
Read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, and schematics for proper installation and repair
Test lines and equipment to identify faults and ensure functionality
Follow all safety protocols and OSHA/utility safety standards
Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and job documentation

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in line work, electrical maintenance, or utility repair
Ability to work at heights and in varied weather conditions
Knowledge of electrical systems, transformers, and related equipment
Experience with bucket trucks, digger derricks, and hand tools
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment, climb poles, and work long hours

Preferred Qualifications

Journeyman or Apprentice Line Technician certification
CDL license preferred
Experience with underground line installation and fiber optics
Familiarity with safety equipment: gloves, harnesses, hot sticks, and insulated tools

Work Environment

Outdoor work in all weather conditions
Exposure to high voltage and physically demanding tasks
May require night, weekend, or emergency on-call response

Compensation & Schedule

$20 - 23/hr
