About the Job

Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a Landscape Company located in Olympia, WA, to fill an Irrigation Back Flow Specialist role. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to join a growing team in a fast-paced, mission-driven, innovative company.

This position is Evaluation-to-Hire / Direct Hire with a consistent schedule of Day Shift with the option to work 4/ 10-hour shifts or 5/ 8-hour shifts. Compensation starts at $25.00-$35.00+/hr DOE, with a full benefits package upon hire.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install backflow prevention devices on irrigation systems to protect water supplies from contamination.
• Test backflow assemblies using certified testing equipment to ensure they meet state and local regulations.
• Perform routine inspections of irrigation systems to identify leaks, pressure issues, or faulty valves.
• Repair or replace defective backflow devices and related components such as valves, seals, and fittings.
• Maintain accurate records and reports of all testing, repairs, and compliance documentation.
• Ensure compliance with local and state water safety regulations, including proper certifications and reporting requirements.
• Troubleshoot irrigation system issues related to water pressure, flow, and system performance.
• Coordinate with landscape crews and property managers to schedule testing, maintenance, and repairs.
• Winterize and de-winterize irrigation systems, including draining and restarting systems seasonally.
• Educate clients or property owners on proper irrigation use, backflow safety, and maintenance best practices.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Backflow Assembly Tester Certification (Washington State required)
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License with a clean driving record
• Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) License (or ability to obtain)
• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Irrigation Specialist or similar role
• Previous landscaping and/or hardscaping experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, valves, and backflow devices, Blueprints
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in the field
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable with a strong work ethic
• Excellent customer service and communication skills when interacting with clients
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems efficiently

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (rain, heat, cold)
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and stand for extended periods
• Capable of digging, trenching, and handling tools/equipment
