Heavy Machine Operator

Heavy Equipment Operators will be responsible for safely operating machinery such as loaders, excavators, and trenchers to support turf installation and irrigation system projects. This role involves site preparation, grading, trenching, and material handling while ensuring work is completed efficiently and to quality standards. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and experienced in working in outdoor, physically demanding environments.

 

Responsibilities: 

• Operate some or all of the following: loader, roller, excavator dozer, or grader.
• Operate machinery to cut grades and slopes.
• Performing routine maintenance including minor servicing, maintenance and cleaning of the equipment.
• Manage stockpiles including sand and other aggregates.
• Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
• Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work.
• Repair and maintain equipment, making emergency adjustments or assisting with major repairs as necessary.
• Keep records of material or equipment usage or problems encountered.
• Must have the initiative, ability, and willingness to perform and assist with other job positions for job completion as requested.

Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of Equipment Operator experience.
• Must demonstrate driving ability, excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards.
• Effective communication with other operators, truck drivers, and the general public is critical.
• Must have the ability to operate and maintain equipment with little or no supervision.
• Continuous mental and visual attention is necessary to safely and effectively complete work tasks.
• Project a positive and cooperative attitude by maintaining courteous and professional conduct with Supervisors, co-workers, customers, and the general public.
• Valid Driver’s License preferred.
