Machine Operator / Washing Tech - $19/hr

Position Overview

Downtown Baton Rouge Express Employment Professionals is seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Crate Repair and Washing Technician to maintain and restore crates to operational standards. This role involves mechanical repairs, cleaning processes, and quality control to ensure compliance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

Crate Repairs:

• Open and close crates safely and efficiently.
• Disassemble parts for inspection and repair.
• Perform manual repairs and reshaping of metal sheets.
• Apply metallization using spray techniques.
• Manage waste generated during repair processes.
• Grease locks and perform spray galvanization when necessary.
• Conduct finishing stage control according to quality standards (check for water, stains, and structural integrity).

Crate Washing:

• Open and lock crates for washing.
• Sort crates based on condition (repair needed vs. ready for use).
• Remove tags, garbage, and plastic bags from crates.
• Operate washing machines using control panels.
• Inspect crates after machine washing for cleanliness and quality.
• Handle machine-related tasks, including releasing crates and addressing machine stops.
• Perform weekly cleaning and filter changes; replenish water and detergent supplies.

Tools & Equipment:

• Use pliers, screwdrivers, a squeegee, and a pin drift for repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in mechanical repairs or industrial cleaning preferred.
• Ability to operate machinery and use hand tools safely.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
• Physical ability to lift and handle crates as required.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of spray galvanization and metallization techniques.
• Familiarity with industrial washing machines and maintenance.
