Inside Sales Representative

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Inside Sales Representative to manage the full sales cycle from initial inquiry through order fulfillment. This role serves as a primary point of contact for customers and vendors and plays a key role in supporting the outside sales team within a fast-paced, professional office environment.

 

The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for ensuring quotes, orders, and follow-ups are handled accurately and promptly while maintaining high standards of customer service, data integrity, and internal communication.

Key Responsibilities

Customer & Sales Cycle Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer and vendor quote requests via phone, email, and web inquiries
  • Provide timely and accurate information regarding products, pricing, lead times, and order status
  • Process customer purchase orders (POs), convert them into sales orders, and ensure all required dates and details are accurate

Order Fulfillment & Follow-Up

  • Obtain vendor quotes and issue purchase orders to suppliers as required
  • Proactively monitor open and past-due customer and vendor orders
  • Communicate delays promptly to customers and provide updated timelines
  • Check inventory availability and track critical order and shipment status

Sales & Technical Support

  • Work closely with outside sales representatives to support account growth and customer retention
  • Provide basic technical guidance on product selection and applications
  • Coordinate with engineering or technical teams on complex customer requirements to help define appropriate solutions

Administration, Reporting & Customer Care

  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with customers
  • Handle customer complaints, returns, and service issues with urgency and professionalism
  • Maintain accurate customer, pricing, and order data within CRM and internal systems
  • Prepare reports and summaries to help communicate sales activity and trends to management

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in inside sales, customer service, sales support, or order management in a B2B environment
  • Customer Communication: Proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, vendors, and internal teams by phone and email
  • Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple open orders and priorities concurrently
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, and comfort working in CRM, order entry, or ERP systems
  • Work Style: Self-motivated, dependable, and responsive in a fast-paced office environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting outside sales teams or managing distributor/manufacturer relationships
  • Familiarity with technical or industrial products
  • Experience with CRM, ERP, or inventory management systems
  • Ability to read or interpret basic technical documentation or specifications

Schedule & Compensation

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Compensation Package will be dependent on experience
