Accounts Payable Specialist

Location: Onsite | Libertyville, IL
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire
Compensation: $50,000–$65,000 (flexible based on experience)

Position Overview

We are partnering with a well-established, stable organization in the Libertyville area to identify a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist. This is a highly process-driven, transactional role where accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established procedures are essential for success.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured environment, values clear expectations, and takes pride in doing things the right way every time.

Key Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices accurately in both paper and electronic formats
• Review invoices for sales tax compliance
• Perform GL coding and vendor account review
• Work within Syteline ERP (training provided)
• Follow documented AP procedures step-by-step without deviation
• Collaborate closely with accounting leadership to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Participate in month-end close activities as needed

Note: This role is not focused on high invoice volume or process redesign. Strict attention to detail and exact execution of existing workflows are critical.

Team & Reporting Structure

• Reports directly to the Controller
• Works closely with the Staff Accountant during training and daily operations
• Training is hands-on, highly structured, and detail-oriented; management becomes more hands-off as trust and competency are demonstrated
• Independent work environment with minimal meetings

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Mid- to senior-level Accounts Payable experience
• Strong preference for manufacturing or plant accounting backgrounds
• Proven ability to follow defined processes exactly and avoid careless errors
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  or accounting certification / equivalent experience
• Comfortable working in traditional/manual AP environments alongside electronic systems

Schedule & Work Environment

• Fully onsite position
• Standard hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Occasional overtime during month-end
• Temp-to-hire with strong intent for permanent placement
