Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Spartanburg, SC
Pay: $80,000–$100,000/year
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday

Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of custom sheet metal machinery. This role will work closely with Project Management and Manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet customer requirements and are optimized for production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD for fabrication and assembly
• Finalize equipment designs following customer submittal approvals
• Organize and participate in internal design reviews
• Prepare and release complete drawing packages for manufacturing
• Support manufacturing and service teams with troubleshooting and technical issues
• Follow projects through production and provide engineering support as needed
• Review customer specifications, submittals, and internal documentation
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement solutions
• Provide occasional customer support, including installation and startup assistance

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) with 2+ years of machine design experience
  OR
• Associate’s degree in Mechanical Technology with 5+ years of relevant experience
• Experience in machine design, custom equipment, or industrial machinery environments

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in SolidWorks (sheet metal, weldments, multibody parts)
• Experience with AutoCAD for legacy design work
• Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and interpret computer-generated data
• Strong understanding of design for manufacturability (fabrication, forming, welding, assembly)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Adobe Acrobat
• Experience with ERP systems (Visual ERP preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in equipment manufacturing or electrical controls
• Familiarity with textile or wastewater equipment
• Experience with design tables and advanced SolidWorks features
