Corn Cook

Salary: $17.00/HR + $1.50 Premium

Corn Cook Job Summary: A local Food Manufacturer in Grand Rapids, MI, is looking for an corn cook to add to their team. Their corn chips are crafted with stone-ground, non-GMO. 

 

Corn Cook Responsibilities.

• Put on All required PPE and Safety Gear
• Ensure that Proper Supplies are assigned to work stations
• Checking paperwork and schedule for assigned cook tank and what type of corn product to cook
• Preform pre-production check to ensure the cooker is functioning
• Open Vales to add water to fill the tank and measure out lime and add to tank
• Open gas valves on cook tank and light the burners and check the temps on the water.
• Position corn chute to the tank and operate chute to pull corn kernels from a silo and fill the cook tank
• Manually level corn evenly in the tank with a raking tool (16 total tanks)
• Mix in other ingredients as required by the recipe/ formula and cook the corn to the proper temps
• Drain hot water from tank when batch is complete and add cold water to chock cooked corn
• Set up pump to transfer the corn batch to the grinding machine.

Schedule & Pay:

• 3rd shift 10:00pm – 6:301m Monday-Friday; overtime as needed and rarely some Saturdays
• $17.00/HR + 1.50 Shift Premium

 Corn Cook Qualifications:

• Must have 1-2 years of experience in food processing/mixing/ operating
• Knows what GMP & SQF quality standards
• High School or GED
• Able to lift 50-100 lbs
• Read, write and effectively communicate in English 
• Basic Math/ Calculations 
• Lock out/ Tag Out
